Lousy Smarch Weather

So here I am again with another Simpsons reference (in case you missed it) because I feel like it pretty much sums up what's been going on here in New Hampshire - lots and lots of snow and rain. Luckily my school hasn't been canceled despite me wishing as hard as I can x_.x. But hey it's March 1st, that's exciting right? I thought I'd just do a quick little update/blog post. I guess the first thing I should talk about is the Academy Awards (and thanks to everyone who came over and watched them - I had a great night!). So I have to say it was probably one of the most unsurprising Oscars I have seen. The King's Speech pretty much swept as everyone expected it to. It was, however, nice to see Inception win best Cinematography (and rightly so). Not too much else to say here really other than the obvious about Hailee Steinfeld being robbed (even though I knew it was going to happen it doesn't make it any less annoying).

Yeah, It's a Lazy, Dog-Dangling Afternoon

Yeah, it's a lazy dog-dangling afternoon.

So I guess the word of the week here in New Hampshire is "Snow." I think it's finally stopped out there but we've just received another two feet or so to add to the three or four that are already blanketing the state. On the bright side, when it finally stops snowing it looks dang beautiful out in the sun. On the even brighter side, school was once again canceled today which means that it's been another lazy day of staying in my warm pajamas and breaking up homework with movies, TV, and video games.

There's something inherently exciting about finding a new TV show that is really interesting and being able to watch entire seasons. That is why I love you, Netflix. Recently I watched the first two seasons of the Animal Planet series River Monsters. If you haven't seen it and have any interest in insanely large or strange fish then I would highly suggest it (make sure you have a strong stomach too though because it can get gross). The host, Jeremy Wade, is just plain awesome. Not only is he a biologist and "extreme angler" but he's definitely entertaining to watch and most episodes play out in a sort of "CSI" was-this-fish-really-the-murderer sort of way.

Listen Bud, He's Got Radioactive Blood!

I thought I'd do just a little post here in honor of everyone's favorite wall-crawler since I haven't done a non-2010 list post in nearly a month. Before I get to what I have to say about Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego though, why don't I fill everyone in on what's been going on.

Gentry Update: Well firstly, I went up to Montreal with my friend Eric last weekend and it was a blast. We didn't really do much other than eat at some sweet restaurants (La Belle Province, Cote St. Luc, and Tim Horton's ftw) and see Season of the Witch - which I really wouldn't suggest... and I LIKE Nicolas Cage unlike most people - at le colisée (the coliseum - a huge movie theatre). We tried to go to the Biodome in downtown Montreal but it was obviously only closed on Mondays in January and February... probably just for us. Anyway we plan on going back probably in the summer since I don't know if Spring Break will work (and it won't be snowing in the summer... hopefully...). Oh I also was lucky enough to see a bunch of my old friends (miss you guys!).

Turn on the LIGHTS

Hey everyone, just a quick little update today because I'm waiting for a class to start and I have a bit of free time with my laptop.

So what's new? Let's see... well exams are coming up so I guess that's exciting or whathaveyou. Oh I'm also 3 seasons into Eureka (Syfy original) thanks to Netflix and I have to say it's pretty great (why else would I watch 3 seasons?). If you've never heard of it, it's a bit like Fringe meets Psych... weird science experiments but more light-hearted and funny. If that sound interesting I would definitely suggest it - oh and don't worry it's nothing like the Syfy original movies. (<- That link has hilarious but graphic content).

What else? Well I've still been playing Black Ops, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and a handful of other games. I might write up some reviews on those as well if I get enough hits and comments on the Kirby one (or if I'm just bored).

As far as the rest of life goes nothing too exciting, but by now you're probably pretty confused about the title of this blog so I'll explain it simply: Valerie "LIGHTS" Poxleitner is the most adorable human being on the face of the planet AND she's a fantastic musician AND she's from Toronto, Canada. So I'm pretty sure I'm in love.

If you haven't heard of her you need to listen and watch below.

And here is LIGHTS being ridiculously cute.

Lazy Sunday

Yikes, it's been over a week since I posted anything. I definitely apologize for that. To be honest I haven't really been on my computer much lately - other than to write papers and such for classes of course. I think most of my computer time has morphed into Netflix and gaming time. Which is a good segue into what I've been watching and playing I suppose.
